Perhaps the best suggestion to organization that I can offer a new genealogist is to use some sort of genealogical software. There are many different software products out there that can be of help at a wide range of prices. If you go this route, no matter what software you choose, be sure that it is GEDCOM compatible. That means that the data you add to the software program will be able to be transferred to other software if you ever decide to make a change. A great site offering reviews of the Top 10 Genealogy Software Products can be found here: Other great tips for organizing your genealogy files have been found on You Tube and various other sites online. We at GenealogyForum.com have always preferred DearMyrtle's work on the subject, since she is family and a major part of our forum on AOL. You can find her on Facebook or here at https://blog.dearmyrtle.com/2015/12/announcing-finally-get-organized-2016.html Some wonderful family charts that you can create: |
