As you research your family tree, you'll want to learn more about the areas from which your ancestors came. That includes looking at maps.

Remember --- borders and boundaries change frequently. When researching your family tree, always consult a map of the geographical area from the time that you are studying. When researching census records and other vital records, this is an important step that will help you be sure that you're looking in or writing to the right place.

Good luck!
