THE GASTERS BAY LEMANT

By: Patrick F. Gushue July 1989

The Bye's, the bye's, me bye;

Comes here's I tell ye me bye;

of the bye's of Bacon Cove, Kitchuses

Conception Harbour, Avondale and

Harbour Main too.

They turned into Ironworkers, me bye;

Steelworkers of high steel with the

Mohawks, across the Yankee cities

they are the Fishgangs of high steel.

They turned into Carpenters, me bye;

Builders of the Yankee cities through

out the Boston States and known for

good workers of wood, me bye too.

They turned into Fisherman, Seafarers

and Shipbuilders from Georges Bank and

Browns Bank though more often than not

Sable Island and the Grand Bank too.

Gone from the villages of Gasters Bay

are the bye's, me bye, gone are the

bye's and the loss we all do feel

Cleveland, Boston, New York and

Philadelphia too, know them well

as Irish and Newfie's one in the

same, but gone are the bye's.

The bye's, me bye's, me bye;

Comes here's I tells ye me bye;

of the bye's of Bacon Cove, Kitchuese,

Conception Harbour, Avondale, and

Harbour Main too
