14 September 1830 - Will of Arkilles written:
State of Tennessee Overton County...Know all men by these presents, that I Arkillas STEPHANS in my proper right mind in this day and date above written
do make my last will and testimony.
I want after all my just debts paid I want my wife Permeley to give William STEPHENS and Jacob STEPHENS my too sons each of them to have a good fifty
dollar horse a peas to be called a ___?___ a good second ? cow at ten dollars, and each of the too boys to have a saddle to be valued at the same ? the
horse was at twenty dollars, I want Jeremiah STEPHENS to have a saddle at the same prise and I want Permeley and Nancey the too galls to have a good cow
and calf a peas and a good bed apeas if my wife is able to give her children any of this property above mentioned without ? of her. She may but not
without I leave this with her own good will to doo as she pleases to doo with ? life if the children dont get this property in their mothers lifetime I want
them to get it after her death if there be property enuf and if not to be equally divided between the too youngest boys after the too youngest girls gits a
good bed apeas and a good cow and calf apeas: after these children the four youngest gets their property above mentioned then if there be any property left
then I want there to be an equal divide between Leudiea PETERMAN and Mahaley PETERMAN and Mary Ann HICKEY and Sary STEPHANS and Permelia STEPHANS and William
STEPHANS and Jacob STEPHANS and Nancy STEPHANS
I leave my land and mill with the household property for her to doo with as she thinks best. I want my wife Permelia STEPHANS not to sell the land, tho rent
or leas as she think best as long as she lives: and after her death then for the property to be divide as above mentioned, I want my smith tools sold at my death
for the youse of raising my youngest children and maintaining of their mother, I want the three youngest boys to have as much as Henry has had: and the too youngest
girls to have as much at the rest of the girls; then for there to be an equal divide among all my children, I have named? all my children but Henry and Leurany,
now I have named them all. I want them all everyone to share alike, I dont noe that I have any thing more at present. This is my last will and testament.

Note: I want my sale to give twelve months credit with bond and proven security; I want Jacob PETERMAN and Luvdicy PETERMAN, his wife to raise Jacob PETERMAN [sic]

April term 1831 - Will of Arkilles was proved in court 25 April. Jacob PETERMAN was appointed exor. along with Permelia STEPHENS.
