    The general session of the peace. The first Tuesday Dec. 15, 1715. Thomas Pettit of Jamaica (Queens, Long Island) informed the court that Thomas Pettit of New Rochelle deceased, being the father of the said Thomas, left behind five small children and moveable estate. Page 410.--THOMAS PETTIT. In the name of God, Amen, this twenty fourth Day of July in he first year of his majesties Reign And in the year of our Lord 1715 I Thomas Pettitt of the Town of New Rochel in the County of West Chester in the ptovince of New York Yeoman being sick of body but of good and perfect memory thanks be to almighty God and Calling to Remembrance the unncertain Estate of this Transitory Life and that all flesh must yield unto Death when it shall please God to Call Do make Constitute ordain and declare this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following Revoking and annulling by these presents all & every Testament and Testaments Will and Wills heretofore by me made and Declared either by word or in writing and this is to be only taken for my Last Will and Testament and none other. And my Body to be Buried in Such place where it shall please my Executrix here after Named to appoint and now for the Settling of my Temporal Estate and such goods and Chattles amd Debts as it hath pleased God far above my Deserts to bestow upon me I order give and Dispose in manner and form following (that is to say) first I will that my beloved wife (illegible) Catherine Pettitt to have hold use Occupy all my Lands and Livings During herr natural Life, my widow and likewise that She my Beloved Wife shall have all my movable Estate for her own use or DIsposing after my Decease Item I give unto my Eldest Son Thomas Pettitt Ten Shillings Currt money of the province aforesaid wth what I also gave him by Deed of Gift as by the said Deed of Gift more at Large Will and make appear and no more. Item I give to my beloved Sons as namely viz: Benjamin Pettitt Joshua Pettitt Samuel Pettitt Bartholomew Pettitt Nathan Pettitt and Daniel Brauch my Son in Law them or either of them an equal Dividend or Share of Lands Tenemenets Houses Barns or Stables Gardens orchards or whatever of that nature I leave behind me or after my Decease and if any of my aforesaid Sons as aforesaid Dies before the other and without Issue that then his or their Share shall be Equally Shared amongst them that are Living. Item I give unto my Beloved Daughters Christian Pettitt, Brauch Pettitt Twenty four pounds Currant money of the province aforesaid when they arrive at their full age (that is to say Twelve pounds of the aforesd like money and the Same to be paid by equal Share of my aforesd Sons Dividend or Share out of the Lands and Livings as also my Beloved wife to pay her proportion of moveable as I Gave her by free will as aforesaid And further I Do appoint & Constitute my Beloved my as aforesaid to be my Sole and Lawfull Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have Set to my hand and affixed my Seal the Day and year first above written Thomas Pettitt X Signed Sealed pronounced published and Declared in the presence of us hereunnder Subscribed John Morreau his mark O Stephen Gerrien Susanna Content, Edwd Ffitz Gerard. Robert Hunter Esqr. Captain General and Governor in Chief of ye provinces of New York New Jersey and Territories Defending therein in America and Vice Admiral of the Same &c To all to whom these presents shall Come or may Concern Greeting Know ye that at New York the thirteenth Day of September the Last Will and Testament of Thomas Pettitt was proved approvved and allowed of my me having while he lived & at the time of his Death Goods Rights and Credits in Divers places within this province by means whereof the full Disposition of all and Singular the Goods Chattles and Credits of the Said Deced and the Granting administration of them also the hearing of account Calculation or Reckoning of said administration and the final Discharge and Dismission from the Same unto me Soly and not unto any other Inferior Judge are manifestly known to belong and the administration of all and Singular the Goods Chattles & Credits of the said Deced and his Last Will and Testament in any manner of ways Concerning was Granted unto Catherine Pettitt the Executrix in the said Last Will and Testament named Chiefly of well and Truly admin -astering the same and of making a true a perfect Inventory of all and Singular the Goods Chattles and Credits of the said Deced and Exhibiting the Same into the Registry of the Prerogative Court in the Secretarys office in the province of New York at or before the thirteenth Day of march next ensuing and of Rendering a Just and true account Calculation or Reckoning when thereunto required. In Testimony whereof I have Caused the prerogative Seal to be hereunto affixed at New York this thirteenth Day of September anno Dom 1715. H.Wileman D. Secry
