Sources and GSP Choices

    GSP Source Entry

    As GSPs enter their 4th and 5th generations of versions GSP makers will become more aware of the genealogist's demand for better source management with the software program. Several GSPs now offer some type of source field that links to an event. A very few offer a complete source manager that includes the Standard Guidelines for source documentation.

    Source Managers

    A Source Manager is a group of fields designed to encourage the user to enter appropriate documentation of a source. Some accumulate a list so you can just highlight the event, click on "sources" and either create a new source or select one already entered.
        

    When evaluating GSPs look for a way to enter sources. Look in the Help file to see if there are guidelines for source documentation. If there are none available you might want to purchase the Silicon Valley Computer Genealogy Group Documentation Guidelines. Their web page is at http://www.svcgg.org/.
