Pedigree Charts
A. The sheets depicted in the picture as "A" are Cascaded. This means that a pedigree of more than 4 or 5 generations can be printed in such a way that the pages interconnect using the phrase below on each page.
"Number 1 on this Chart is the same as Number xx on Chart Number yy"
Which Suits Your Needs?
"xx" is the number of that person found on a previous chart and "yy" is the Chart number found at the top of the page. Pedigree charts printed in this way can be inserted into file folders or loose leaf notebooks for easy reference or transport or included in manuscripts or books. Some programs will print an index to these charts as well.
Below the name of each individual at the end of the line on each page will appear a short line with a number. This number is that page or chart number where this person's lineage continues.
B. "B" represents the Extended, or Wall Chart, way to print pedigrees that "extend" beyond 4 or 5 generations. The additional generations will flow onto additional pages both horizontally and vertically. The pages must then be taped together to get the whole pedigree as a single unit. Some programs will only print the extended pedigree.
